Google Account Activity Monthly Reports – What’s the Use?

Today Google introduced a new service called Account Activity. If you opt in to this service you will get monthly reports from Google about your Google account activity. You will not get the reports directly. Instead Google will send you a link that will direct you to a password protected report. The report will contain all your monthly Google activities. Means the Google services you used in the corresponding month. When you singed into your Google account and perform a Google search that activity will definitly reflect in the report. It is applicable to other Google services also including Gmail. I have just opted in to this account. Google says my report is under preparation and once it is ready they will send a mail to me regarding the same. But the screenshot provided on the official Google Blog clearly says what the report is about.

From the report you can easily find any unauthorized access of your account by peoples from any countries, if there is any such. Under Account Sing ins you can get a clear picture of your account health, means whether your account is compromised or not. If compromised, from the report you can find the country, browser and which platform the infiltrator used to access your account. Also look for the status under Google Latitude. It will provide you more details about the access of your account like visited places. In such cases immediately change your Google account password.

Other than this there is no use of this report for a common man. The report contains the number of mail you sent and also the number of mail you received during the month and the percentage changes. The search history shows your top queries. A mirror of your one month online behavior that just arouse some curiosity in reading. Nothing more. What is your opinion about Google Account Activity.
