Create Cliplets – Sounds unfamiliar? Microsoft Research has released a free app named Cliplets for creating Cliplets, a special imagery, or video
, from video. It is about creating a still photograph from a video footage with some animations on it. It is similar to GIF. Cliplets is a free app from the Microsoft Research team for Windows. With this app you can make movements of a subject on a video highlighted. That means you can make other objects on the video motionless.
Check some of your casually taken videos. You can find that on some of them, the movements of the object that you have desired to capture was lost in the chaos due to irrelevant camera clutter, disturbing noise or due to your shaky camera movement. You can pick such videos and make them cliplets. Still didn’t get. Click on the below image and watch the video/cliplets in action.
In Microsoft research teams own words Cliplets is;
Microsoft Research Cliplets is an interactive app that uses semi-automated methods to give users the power to create “Cliplets” — a type of imagery that sits between stills and video from handheld videos. The app provides a creative lens one can use to focus on important aspects of a moment by mixing static and dynamic elements from a video clip.
Though Microsoft Research team does not offer any official support, users can find help on the Cliplets forum. Also some video tutorials are posted here. Cliplets is available for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows. Install Cliplets and make some cool Cliplets using it.
