TweetDeck is a free application from Twitter having some advanced features that twitter doesn’t have. Customizable column layout, powerful filters, scheduled tweeting, multiple Twitter and Facebook account support, and notification (popup) alerts are some of the features it boasts. Earlier TweetDeck were only available as a native application for Windows and Mac. But now it is also available as a web app for browsers Chrome and Safari.
The main advantage of web app is that you can access your same settings on TweetDeck, remember the fact that TweetDeck has customizable columns, from any computer on the supported browsers. If you use Chrome install TweetDeck app from the Chrome Web Store. Alternatively you can go to TweetDeck directly from your browser address bar (now only supporting Chrome and Safari) by typing the URL http://web.tweetdeck.com.
Few Tips for New TweetDeck Users
Add Twitter, Facebook Accounts to TweetDeck : Click the gear icon that is visible in the far right corner of the navigation bar and select Settings. It will open the Application Window from there you can add Twitter and Facebook account to TweetDeck.
Filter Out Unwanted Tweets : Simply filter out unwanted updates on any topics from your columns from Settings->Global Filters. You can filter out any text (eg Siri), Author (eg @techpackorg) and source.
Schedule Your Tweets : You can schedule your new tweets for a future given date and time. To do this click the tweet icon that looks like a feather quill visible in the top navigation bar. Type in your desired message and click the time settings icon. Set time and date.
Get Update on a Specific Topic : From Add Column click Search Button. Search for a Keyword or # hashtag. For example type the keyword Apple and hit enter. Wait for a moment and click Add Column. You will get current discussion regarding the topic Apple in a new column.
Set Notification Sound and Popup : When you point your mouse on column headings, a gear icon will get visible. Click on it to set up.
