With a Google account, needless to say it is free, and a printer plugged into a computer connected to internet or using only an ePrinter, you can print over the web from anywhere. No matter you use your PC, smartphone or tablet. There are some free apps / extensions for these devices to make the best use from Google Cloud Print.
Cloud Print is a new technology from Google that allows users to print over the web. It is not a must to use Cloud Ready Printers to do printing job over the web using this service. You can seamlessly use your existing printer for this purpose. But the difference is that in order to use your existing printer it should be plugged into your PC (Windows or Mac) and connected to internet.
How to set up your existing (classic) Printer for Google Cloud Print
- Install the latest version of Google Chrome browser on your Windows, Mac or Linux computer. If already installed please ignore.
- If your OS is Windows XP make sure that Microsoft XML Paper Specification Essentials Pack is installed on it.
- Open Google Chrome and click Wrench menu (Spanner) icon on the browser toolbar.
- Select Options (Preferences on Mac) and click on Under the Hood tab.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find Google Cloud Print and click Sign in to Google Cloud Print.
- Sign in with your Google account and finish printer registration.
How to set up your ePrinter for Google Cloud Print
As already mentioned ePrinter doesn’t need to connect to a PC to set up. To enable Google Cloud Print service on these devices or print set up go through the user manual that comes with the Printer.

How to Share a Printer via Google Cloud Print
- First go to https://www.google.com/cloudprint/manage.html and click Printers.
- Select the printer you wish to share and click Share.
- In the dialog that appears, enter the email address for the person to whom with you want to share your printer.
How to Print to a Cloud Print Enabled Printer
You can print files to your cloud printer or shared cloud printer from anywhere over the web. Use your PC, smartphone or tablet. But you must have internet access and the required applications (list below).
Apps for Using Cloud Print on Computer, Smartphone or Tablet
For Chromebook, Windows, Mac or Linux Computer
You can quickly print files from your computer via cloud print by uploading it to Google cloud print page at https://www.google.com/cloudprint/manage.html. There click Print and choose Upload file to Print.
On your Chromebook or Chrome Browser, click Wrench Menu from toolbar and select Print. Under Destination click select Print with Google Cloud Print.
Mac users can download and use Cloud Printer that allows them to print from any application on their Mac (Leopard and up), thru’ the regular Mac print menu.

This app supports several forms of printing including Google Cloud Print. Some features of this app are limited to paid users. But Google Cloud Print service is absolutely free and works fine.
