This article is about Chrome’s Omni Bar Feature. A novice user of Chrome may not notice some of the grand features of this browser. One reason is that Chrome gets updated more often that unlocks an array of new features to its users. If you aren’t closely monitoring your browser or following Chrome blog you will sadly miss out some of the great features. Below are two new Chrome features that caught my attention recently.
Now about performing basic or complex calculations by typing into the Address Bar or Omni Bar. On any browser, you can perform mathematical calculations by typing into the address bar where Google is the default search engine.
Search Term Example
Also you can search for different search terms to find answers directly in the search results. Few examples are below
weather San Francisco, CA
10.5 cm in inches
But when you want to perform more powerful calculations, just change the Omni bar search engine to Wolfram|Alpha in Chrome. To change your default search engine in Chrome just right click on the Address Bar and select “Edit search engines”. Point to Wolfram|Alpha from the list and click Make Default. Wolfram|Alpha provides a lots of search features from Mathematical, Chemistry, Engineering, Weather, Place and Medicine, Computational Sciences etc. What more if you are with in U.S. you can even find the flight details that you have just seen overhead.
