Free Public Download of Ubuntu 11.10 Operating System From October 13, 2011

Ubuntu, the free and open source computer operating system, is the most popular Linux distribution. The UK based Canonical Ltd who is sponsoring Ubuntu announced that the latest version of this free OS, i.e. Ubuntu,  11.10, would be available as a public download from October 13, 2011 at www.ubuntu.com.

Some of the new features in this latest iteration of Ubuntu (ver. 11.10)

Software Center : The new refreshed Software Center makes it easier to select software based on ratings and popularity, and to contribute your own reviews. (Ubuntu Software Center provides you access to thousands of tools, games, applications and accessories from open source and commercial software publishers.)

Ubuntu One : Subscribe to Ubuntu 1 and get and make use of 5GB free cloud storage. Now you can stream your entire music collection to all your devices, no matter whether you are using PC, Android or iOS devices.

Dash : Dash is the central search-driven interface to Ubuntu. The new enhanced Dash enables you to instant access to your personal and online music collections through the music lens, which will also search the Ubuntu One Music Store.

Back Up :  The standard full back up facility in Ubuntu 11.10 allows you to back up locally or to the Ubuntu One cloud. You can schedule backups and restore from a backup, providing you with a ‘time machine’ capability. All for free.

You can install Ubuntu 11.10 alongside your Windows OS, or try it on a CD or USB stick. But you have to wait until tomorrow.
