We normally bookmark interesting webpage (s) in our browser so that we can easily come back to it in future. At present, I think users will not stick to any one browser because some good alternatives are already knocking on the door. They may try other browsers and if found the browser OK they may permanently switch to it.
So when you switch from your current browser to another or use any other PC you may want to use your browser bookmarks on them.
Save/export your current browser bookmarks as an HTML file. So that you can use the file to import it to any browser on any PC very easily. Let us see how to export bookmarks from browsers; Chrome 12, Firefox 5, IE 9 and Opera 11.
Google Chrome 12
- Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
- Select Bookmark manager.
- Click the Organize menu in the manager.
- Select Export bookmarks.
- Choose a location where you want your exported file to be saved, then click Save.
Mozilla Firefox 5

- Click Firefox Orange button and click Bookmarks->Show All Bookmarks (renamed form Organize Bookmarks)
- Click Import and Backup and Export HTML.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9)
- Press Alt key to make the IE 9 File menu visible.
- Then File->Import and Export and select Export to a file then click Next.
- Select Favourites and then click Next and click subfolder under the Favourites and Export.
Opera 11
- Click Menu->Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks.
- Click File->Export as HTML.
Now I will explain you how to import bookmarks to these browsers
Google Chrome 12
- Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
- Select Bookmark manager.
- Click the Organize menu in the manager.
- Select Import bookmarks.
- Choose the path of the file to be imported.
Mozilla Firefox 5
- Click Firefox Orange button and click Bookmarks->Show All Bookmarks.
- Click Import and Backup and Import HTML.
- Select From an HTML file.
- Choose the path of the file to be imported.
Internet Explorer 9
- Press Alt key to make the IE 9 File menu visible.
- Then File->Import and Export and select Import from a file click Next.
- Select Favourites then click Next
- Select folder and Import.
- Choose the path of the file to be imported.
Opera 11
- Click Menu->Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B).
- Click File->Import * Firefox Bookmarks (or select the browser)
In Opera 11 you will surprise to see that there is no option to import Chrome bookmarks. But you can import Chrome bookmarks by choosing Import Firefox Bookmarks.
You can use the above tips to save browser bookmarks, use it on any PC and in any browser.
