YouTube interactive transcript is truly a hidden treasure for non-native English users. Do you want to know why? Simply follow the below article.
YouTube Interactive Transcript: How is it Useful?
Many of us watch video tutorials on YouTube. We know how useful it is at times. Several occasions a non native English user, I mean people for whom English is not their mother-tongue or first language, may find it difficult to follow tutorials simply because they can’t understand some words pronounced.
Interactive Transcript is a blessing for such users. It is already there in YouTube. But only available for videos with captions provided by the video owner. Try to find the closed captions (highlighted on the above screenshot). If it is available for the tutorial you are watching, click on the icon to open a pane with the full text of captions . It is the YouTube Interactive Transcript.
As you watch the video, the transcript will scroll to always show you the current text. If you click on a line, YouTube will show the excerpt from the video corresponding to the text. Go to the line that you couldn’t understand earlier and click on it to find how the word is pronounced.
In other words YouTube interactive transcript can be used to learn English. Pick few videos on YouTube with this feature and watch the video several times. You may slowly get familiar with the natural flow of English. I mean you will get the same experience that you may get from watching English movies with subtitles.
For your convenience I am providing below links to five videos on YouTube that comes with interactive transcript.
